Here are some works I painted as part of the Color Theory class at the Art Institute of Virginia Beach. It was interesting to learn about color harmonies and the different ways we each perceive colors and their relationships to things.
This was my first painting with acrylics on paper. It was used as an assessment of where we were at the beginning of the class back in early October 2013.
SPYDER COLOR WHEEL
This was done with gauche acrylic to represent that color wheel as part of my color theory classes.
SELF PORTRAIT WITH MONOCHROMATIC BROWNS
This is a self portrait I did in December 2013 using a monochromatic brown color harmony. I was going for something a bit more abstract with an armadillo like coat, starry eyes and Indian Jones style hat. This was an interpretive work that built from an earlier self portrait I did at the Art Institute Online in 2010.
NUBIST OF THE SPHERES
This was done as a great artist inspired work with influences from Salvadore Dali and his work titled “Galatea of the Spheres.”
